Match Report

After several hours of emergency wicket preparation and sopping up of the outfield, the game against Chelford finally got underway with skipper Griffiths winning the toss and inviting the visitors to bat first on a bit of a green top.

Woods (5-22) and Tyms (3-15) opened up with the new ball and were soon terrifying the batsmen with their express pace and tight line. Chelford were soon in trouble at 20-5 with all their danger men back in the shed before Holt (2-10) finished off the job to leave Ashley to chase 52. It must be noted that Ed is yet to be classified as a bowler this season.

Liam O'Doherty and Will Lewis smashed the runs in less than 5 overs and to give Ashley 20 points and an early finish.

No they didn't, actually it pissed down just as we were taking to the field at 2pm after the conditions were dry and sunny all morning. The game was abandoned at 3pm leaving Ashley to play a hotly contested table football tournament before going on the lash and watching Sale Sharks lose to Wasps in their last ever home game at Heywood Road.
