Ashley vs Plumley

Date: Saturday 24th June 1893

Venue: Plumley

Toss won by:

Batted First:

This match was played at Plumley on Saturday, and resulted in a victory for the Ashley team. Plumley having won the toss, elected to bat, but so well did Cawley and Roberts bowl that the whole team were dismissed for 45. Cawley took five wickets for 20 runs and Roberts five for 23. The fielding of the Ashley team was very close indeed, and several fine catches were made, particularly the one by E Walkden which dismissed Webb. Baker was also very smart at the wickets. On the Ashley side Hall played a good innings for 22, and was unluckily caught off a ball which got up on his face and rebounded off his hand. Walkden, seven; Philips, seven; and Nicholson, nine, also batted steadily.
